RealAudio
Peggy was born to Clifford and Maurice Rollins in January of 1937, at Ballard County, Barlow, Kentucky. She was called a "flood baby" because the Dr. had to deliver at home, rowing through backwater to get to the house, due to the famous '37 flood. She has a younger brother, Larry Rollins, and is married to Joe Ben Piper, her high school boyfriend who she married in 1955. Joe is a retired Operating Engineer and semi-retired farmer who raises Charolais cattle. They have two daughters; Keytha Cooper and Kelly Waldon, and three grand daughters; Kassie Bell, Kelsey and Kody Waldon. Peggy graduated from Ballard Memorial High School in 1955 and attended Paducah Community College in 1967 - 68. She has worked for 10 years for the Ballard County Board of Education as Secretary/Treasurer, and 32 years as an Administrative Assistant to Mill Management at Westvaco Corp. (a Fortune 500 company) in Wickliffe, Kentucky, which manufactures coated paper for many well-known publications such as Forbes and National Geographic. She enjoys gardening, decorating, entertaining at her country home, and traveling and spending time with daughters and granddaughters. Peggy is very active in her community; she is President of the Ballard Memorial High School Alumni Association, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Fort Jefferson Memorial Cross (90 foot cross located at the confluence of the Ohio and Missippi rivers), a Sunday School leader and on the Advisory Board of BMHS Vocational School. Peggy began writing poems about people she has known and worked with, used for special recognition at retirement dinners/brochures. Her interest in Country music led her to become a lyric writer. She enjoys attending concerts and has had her photo taken with several famous artists, including Ray Stevens, Mel Tillis, Tim McGraw, and Gary Morris.
