K Street or Grass Roots?
Do high-powered K Street lobbyists really get Congressmen to do their bidding, or do Congressmen "consider the source?" We believe it is no
longer true that these lobbyists have a great deal of influence with Congressmen. The reality is that many of the Congressmen's constituents have as much influence as a D.C. lobbyist. The K Street lobbyist is
getting paid a fat salary to manipulate them and Congressmen know it. The Congressmen vote based on their own decision-making process regardless of what lobbyists want. Most Congressmen give more consideration to
the consensus of their advisors, associates, and constituents. That is why grass-roots lobbying is more effective. Every Congressmen has key constituents and associates, friends and relatives in their home state
that have more influence than any K Street lobbyist. A grass roots campaign can be more effective and less costly. The overhead with the K Street firms is great and their methods are expensive. A smart lobbying
program involves individuals that really influence a Congressman. Your money is wasted if you use a high-priced lawyer to do paralegal work.
